Judge volunteers time to reduce jail overcrowding
A judge volunteered to work extra in an effort to reduce overcrowding at the Oklahoma County jail — one inmate at a time. "It's amazing how smooth the wheel turns when you put a little grease on it," District Judge Ray C. Elliott said after sentencing seven inmates to probation on their felony cases. The longtime judge sentenced another nine inmates to probation or to time already served in jail on misdemeanor cases.
