Study: Later school start times could keep NC teen drivers safer
A new study shows that later school start times can keep North Carolina teenage drivers safer on the road. Researchers saw a 14 percent drop in crashes involving teen drivers in Forsyth County after the district pushed start times from 7:30 a.m. to 8:45 a.m. in 2003. They did not see a drop in crashes in Mecklenburg or Wake counties, where most high schools start before 7:30 a.m.
