Plan to make more students walk to school being considered
from CT Post
There is no way Ray Gill would let his 7-year-old walk a mile and a half to school, he doesn't care how many school aides the district can save as a result. Alica Caban, another Bridgeport parent, noted that a stretch of the route her 11-year-old would have to take from home to Blackham School on Thorme Street includes no sidewalks. Those are two opinions on the idea of expanding walking distances for city elementary school students from one mile to 1.5 miles.
