from For Construction Pros
A new Department of Labor overtime rule set to begin on Dec. 1, 2016, will impact millions of employees. The rule nearly doubles the amount of money a worker must be paid in order to be exempt from earning overtime pay. Under the rule, most salaried workers earning up to $47,476 a year must be paid time-and-a-half overtime pay if they work more than 40 hours during a week. Previously employers were exempt from paying overtime pay to workers earning $23,660. The new rule is expected to make 4.2 million additional workers eligible for overtime pay.
