In push to diversify tech, Kapor Center opening in Uptown Oakland, California

The long-awaited Kapor Center for Technology and Social Impact in Uptown Oakland, California, will officially open its doors on July 20. East Bay power couple Mitch Kapor and Freada Kapor Klein originally bought the 45,000-square-foot building at at 2148 Broadway in 2012 with the purpose of housing their three main social welfare initiatives under one roof. The Kapors, who have deep roots in the Oakland tech community, have taken up diversifying the industry as one of their main causes.
