US, Canada to keep trying to reach lumber agreement

The U .S. and Canada continue to have major differences as they try to work out a new agreement governing exports of softwood lumber, but they also say they plan further talks to try to resolve the contentious issues. After a summit meeting in Ottawa in late June among the leaders of U.S., Canada and Mexico, President Barack Obama and Prime Minister Justin Trudeau said their negotiators would "maintain an intensive pace of engagement" and are seeking to strike a deal in the fall.
