State to offer paid family leave in 2018
from Times Herald-Record
For the first time most working New Yorkers will be able to receive paid family leave to care for a family member, such as a parent, a spouse, a child or domestic partner who is seriously ill, or wishes to look after (to bond) their newborn baby or a new child placed from an adoption or foster care. The law amends New York’s Disability Benefits Law, which covers non-work related illnesses or accidents. All employers will be subject to this new law. It will cover both full-time and part-time employees in New York.
