US government bonds slide on corporate debt sales
New corporate debt sales pushed down U.S. government bond prices and sent yields higher recently, highlighting the Treasury bond market's important role as a bedrock of global financing. In late afternoon trading, the yield on the benchmark 10-year Treasury note was 1.499 percent, up from 1.458 percent. Yields rise as bond prices fall.
