Genetics Tests Speed Source ID for Kids' Fevers

Preliminary results from two studies demonstrated the promise of genetics for evaluating in febrile infants and very young children. In the first, laboratory testing identified RNA biosignatures, with a high level of sensitivity and specificity, for infants with bacteremia compared with infants without bacterial infections, reported Prashant Mahajan, MD, MPH, MBA, of Children's Hospital of Michigan in Detroit, and colleagues.
