Corporate diversity initiatives should include white men
from Harvard Business Review
"There are these two young fish swimming along, and they happen to meet an older fish swimming the other way, who nods at them and says, 'Morning, boys. How's the water?' And the two young fish swim on for a bit, and then eventually one of them looks over at the other and goes, 'What the hell is water?'" So starts David Foster Wallace's famous commencement speech. It is a beautiful summary of the core challenge for inclusion work. Dominance is invisible to the dominant group, and extremely visible to everyone outside it. In other words, fish don’t see the water they're swimming in.
