School spending: $2 million of a proposed $12 million tax increase would go toward security, transportation

Greeley-Evans School District 6 security director John Gates can think of a few situations in which security cameras at the district's high schools would have come in handy last year. One stands out. Toward the end of the 2015-2016 school year, Northridge High School students set three fires in school trashcans in one day. "Kids do that on a dare, or thinking they're funny," Gates said. "A couple of those fires were significant."
