Congressional Reps Tell CMS to Halt Mandatory Bundled Payment Programs
Led by Congressman Tom Price (R-GA-06), 179
members of Congress have sent a stern letter to Centers for Medicare Medicaid Services (CMS) officials
telling CMS to halt the proposed mandatory bundling payment program including the proposed mandatory episode of care bundled payment program for CABG and AMI. The congressional reps assert CMS is overstepping its legal authority in regards to these bundling programs. SCAI has expressed concerns over the proposed mandatory bundling program for AMI, which CMS has repeatedly described as being an "experiment" with unknown outcome and uncertainty in regards to the impact on patient care. SCAI will continue to monitor these developments focusing on ensuring the best quality patient care.
