Missouri school districts prepare for cuts to school transportation
from Columbia Daily Tribune
School transportation will take the biggest hit under cuts announced by Gov. Jay Nixon. Nixon announced $57.2 million in cuts in response to the Missouri General Assembly's override of his vetoes of tax breaks. The cuts include $16.5 million to school transportation and $6 million to funding for the school foundation formula. Also, funding that schools receive through Proposition C, the 1-cent statewide sales tax for education, was reduced by $1.9 million.
