Climb in Concussions Credited to Comprehension
from The Times of Northwest Indiana
In 2009, the state of Washington was the first to pass concussion care legislation. The Zackery Lystedt Law, named after a junior high football player who became permanently disabled as the result of second impact syndrome, would be mimicked in the other 49 states and Washington D.C. by early 2014. In the seven years since the Lystedt Law was passed, concussion awareness, recognition and fear have increased dramatically nationwide.
