Derry schools warn parents to secure transportation amid potential bus driver strike
Buses may soon stop transporting students to and from Derry schools due to a labor dispute between the bus company and union. Employees of First Student, which provides school buses statewide, have threatened to go on strike due to a breakdown in negotiations between the Teamsters Local 633 union and First Student about retirement-plan funding, business agent Jeffrey Padellaro said. Derry Superintedent Laura H. Nelson has notified parents of this potential work stoppage which would affect how their children get to and from school. Nelson said that an actual work stoppage order could be very short notice, so it is important for parents to secure transportation for their students.
