Today Is World AIDS Day
World AIDS Day is held on December 1st
as an opportunity for people all over the world to come together to fight the stigma and stereotypes that come with HIV and AIDS, show support for people living with HIV, and remember the millions of lives that have been lost through AIDS. Over the years and up to current days, several people are dying of AIDS. According to
, there is an estimated population of 34 million people who are infected by the virus and more than 35 million have died of HIV or AIDS since 1984 when the virus was identified. Currently there are no cures for HIV and AIDS making it one of the most destructive pandemics in history.
