5. Bill would put NJ on the hook for roadwork shutdown costs

From Sept. 22: The state would be on the hook for any costs resulting from road projects stalled by the impasse over how to replenish the Transportation Trust Fund under a bill forwarded by an Assembly committee. The Assembly Transportation Committee voted 9-2 to advance the measure to a vote by the full Assembly. The bill would require the state Department of Transportation to reimburse counties and municipalities for any expenses incurred as a result of delays caused by Gov. Chris Christie's order to shut down most of those projects until a deal on financing the fund is resolved. more
