Why are we so obsessed with teaching kids cursive handwriting?

from MindShift

From Oct. 4: As computers become a common part of daily life for most adults and children, the debate about whether handwriting should be taught in school has heated up. Some claim it will be more important for students to learn keyboarding than writing with pen and paper given the ubiquity of digital communication.
