Waterloo Region architectural conservancy takes umbrage with Conestoga College plan
from Waterloo Chronicle
The architecture of Conestoga College's Waterloo campus on University Avenue East represents a period when society was trying to break away from the traditional. Unique, innovative and striking were some of the words Marg Rowell used to describe the former University Heights Secondary School, designed in the modern style popular in the 1950s and 1960s. It's the type of structure Waterloo Region should be striving to preserve, rather than cover up, Rowell said after learning of Conestoga's $43.5 million planned renovations for the building.
