No Surprise: 2016 Record Data Breach Year
from PIA Western Alliance
Risk Based Security published a report on data breaches for 2016. The year set records and saw more major businesses — like Yahoo — successfully attacked. Inga Goddijn is the executive vice president of Risk Based Security. She said, "We have been tracking breach activity since 2005, and the number of breaches this year was not really higher or lower than prior years, but the severity was off the charts." The report said business services, retail and technology accounted for 30% of the breaches.
