Report: Kinder Morgan's pipeline spill in South Carolina bigger than estimated
from Savannah Morning News
A new study suggests a gasoline pipeline spill in Belton, South Carolina, may be almost 50 percent bigger than owner Kinder Morgan estimated and planned to clean up. Houston-based pipeline giant Kinder Morgan put the spill from its Plantation Pipeline at about 370,000 gallons, making it one of the largest in South Carolina history. But an analysis using reports and data from Kinder Morgan's own monitoring and recovery wells bumps up the estimate to more than 500,000 gallons.
