How substance abuse endangers construction workers, hurts recruiting and threatens your bottom line (Part 1)
from Equipment World
It's a story that received national headlines. On June 5, 2013, equipment operator Sean Benschop maneuvered an 18-ton excavator toward a four-story brick building slated for demolition in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. But in part because of Behschop's failure to follow safe demolition practices, an unsupported wall gave way and crashed down onto an adjacent one-story Salvation Army Store. Six people in the store died and another 13 were injured. Toxicology reports showed evidence of marijuana and codeine in Benschop's blood.
