Could an opioid recovery treatment be harming patients oral health?
Dental health is often the last thing a recovering addict thinks about. But new research, by the University of Vermont College of Medicine, shows dental hygiene is the number three chronic health effect from which former addicts suffer. “About a year ago, we did a study here of our guests and on comorbid issues, besides their addiction, it turns out oral health was the third largest comorbid issue that they are dealing with,” said Gary De Carolis, executive director for the Turning Point Center.
