Could the housing crunch get worse? What the latest construction numbers say
The housing crunch doesn't look like it will be getting better any time soon, according to the latest report on new construction. The number of permits issued to builders to put up sorely needed homes across the country fell 6.2 percent from January to February, according to the seasonally adjusted numbers in the latest new residential construction report jointly released by the U.S. Census Bureau and U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development. However, they were up 4.4 percent from February of 2016.
