Bus service issues in Detroit schools resolved
from Detroit Free Press
Transportation problems in the Detroit Public Schools Community District that caused delays should be resolved, thanks to an agreement with a company that will take on routes formerly handled by Safeway Transportation. On April 3, the district discovered that Safeway, one of four companies that provided bus service to students across the district, had let its insurance lapse March 2 after not paying its premium. That forced the district to scramble and the other three companies to take over the Safeway routes, leading to delays of about 90 minutes.
