Falling short: State share of school funding shrinks while local burden grows

In 2001-2002, state money made up 39 percent of Columbia Public Schools' nearly $121 million in revenue, with local funds contributing 54 percent. But by 2015-2016, total CPS revenue had grown to $191 million, with local sources growing to 62 percent of the total and state revenue shrinking to 32 percent.
