How female entrepreneurs can help the diversity problem in high-tech areas
A 2016 Miami Herald article quoted some discouraging statistics about the state of diversity in places like Silicon Valley. It noted that less than 20 percent of tech entrepreneurs in Silicon Valley are women, while the market's female leadership is in the single digits for African-Americans and Latinos. Even the investing landscape lacks diversity. According to the same article, women make up less than 8 percent of all investment decision makers in venture capital firms, while less than 1 percent of VCs are African-American and 1.3 percent are Hispanic.
