Recall alert: 2005-08 BMW 7-Series doors may open while driving
BMW is recalling over 45,000 7-Series sedans because one of the doors may open during driving or refuse to shut (we'll take the latter). The recall affects model years 2005-08 with BMW’s “Comfort Access” or “Soft Close Automatic” doors that allows the doors to be closed more gently than traditional doors. About 7,500 of the affected cars were recalled in 2012 for the same problem — BMW said it was a software error causing the doors to open. There’s no word on what the problem is this time around, but the possibility of having to dodge flailing doors on the highway is a definite problem. No injuries related to the problem have been reported.
