Anesthesia as safe as conscious sedation in stroke thrombectomy
Two new randomized studies have provided reassurance on the safety of general anesthesia for patients undergoing endovascular therapy for acute stroke. The studies, presented at the 3rd European Stroke Organisation Conference (ESOC) 2017, both suggested that general anesthesia was just as safe as conscious sedation, and in one study there was a suggestion of benefit with anesthesia.
