VA program combats MRSA infections

A Veterans Health Administration program drastically reduced methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus infections in a North Carolina–based community living center, according to a new study. During the intervention period of 2012 of 2016, MRSA health care–associated infections fell nearly 90 percent, saving an estimated $2.2 million in related costs. The data were presented at the Association for Professionals in Infection Control and Epidemiology 2017 Annual Conference.
