3. This North Jersey town wants a curvy highway straightened
From July 4:
The West Milford Town Council in New Jersey is refusing to approve a state plan to fix parts of a Route 23 because it didn't address a way to straighten parts of the road prone to accidents. The state plan includes paving a two-mile stretch of Route 23 and closing a U-turn beginning in 2022. But, the plan doesn't call for straightening the road's reverse curves, or S-curves. For that reason, the council unanimously defeated a resolution in support of the plan at its meeting recently.
