School bus drivers fear stop-arm violators most
from The Herald Bulletin
"I didn't see you." Madison County school bus drivers say that's the most common statement motorists make after a school bus versus car crash. "We're big. We're yellow. With black stripes down the side. We're pretty obvious," said Merri Beechboard of Hayden Anderson Transit System, which operates the largest fleet of school buses in Madison County for Anderson Community Schools. "If you don't see a big yellow school bus, you were obviously distracted," she added. The most serious problem isn't fender benders at intersections, though; it's the number of motorists who violate school bus stop-arm laws.
