|SIP Engineering Design Guide: Summer 2018 release
Work is progressing with expected publication in Summer 2018.
This four-year project is on track to publish the industry's state of the art SIP engineering design specifications with commentary and examples supported by a new software design tool.
With over 200 pages, the document brings together 13 chapters of engineering specification covering the calculation basis for fundamental handling of all aspects from SIP shear, compression, tension to combined loads, connections/joints, panel openings and reinforced panels.
Practioners, designers and engineers who desire building with SIPs will find this Engineering Design Guide a welcome resource for both light commercial and residential construction. Best of all, the 13 design examples will show complete engineering calculations and an online tool will facilitate calculation of the examples using dynamic adjustment of key parameters.
This guide is a collaborative effort headed by the SIPA Technical Advisory Committee with significant support from SIPA member and engineering company NTA. A beta version of the SIP Engineering Design Guide is in peer review by SIPA members, selected third parties, and academics.
