National Parks' campgrounds need work — does Zinke have the answer?

Interior Secretary Ryan Zinke says the country's national parks need more than $11.3 billion for deferred maintenance for roads, buildings, bridges, trails and campground improvements — money that the government can't afford. He thinks private companies could provide campground upgrades, an idea that advocates hope could even enlist a new generation to visit the parks. "Contemporary campers expect a variety of services when they go to a campground," says Derrick Crandall, counselor for the National Parks Hospitality Association and president of the American Recreation Coalition. more
