Arun Bhikshesvaran has made a lot of pitches, but one of them sticks out. It was the early 2000s, and Cingular Wireless had just been created via the merger between BellSouth and SBC Communications, which at the time created the second-largest wireless carrier. Bhikshesvaran, who'd only started installing systems in the field for Ericsson about five years earlier, was trying to sell the new mega-company on GSM, one of the two major radio signal systems used in cell phones.
