Catheter-Based Biopsy Enables Heart Tumor Diagnosis
from MedPage Today
Where malignancy is suspected in intracardiac masses, percutaneous transcatheter biopsy can provide a histopathologic diagnosis without resorting to surgery, operators found. This minimally-invasive means of biopsy altered clinical decision-making in 52 percent of patients; 38 percent of those slated for excisional biopsy were subsequently able to avoid surgery, researchers reported in a study published ahead of print in EuroIntervention.
