New Jersey court: Pregnancy not to be given greater consideration for pretrial release
from Burlington County Times
The New Jersey Appellate Division ruled that pregnancy should be given no greater weight than other factors when deciding if someone should be released from jail pending trial. In a 10-page reversal decision related to the release of a woman charged with robbery and assault for an incident in June, the appeals court ruled that a judge "abused his discretion in giving defendant's pregnancy greater weight than all other pertinent factors in his determination to release her."
