Supplement makers unregulated? Think again

Lest anyone think the FDA pays no attention to supplement makers, the agency has put one out of business — for the time being, anyway — for "multiple violations of the current good manufacturing practices regulations for dietary supplements," it said in a news release. In response to a complaint filed by the U.S. Justice Department at the FDA's request, a federal magistrate judge ordered Custompax Inc., of Fremont, California, to stop all product sales until it comes into compliance with the cGMP regulations.
