Indiana-Based Drug-Discovery Startup Aims to Use Nanotechnology to Digest Blood Clots in Lungs

from Indiana University

Researchers in the Indiana University School of Medicine's Department of Emergency Medicine have launched a startup to develop nanotechnology to help people affected by blood clots in the lungs, also known as pulmonary embolisms. The technology could improve patient outcomes and reduce risk. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, as many as 900,000 people in the United States could be affected by pulmonary embolisms annually. The first symptom in one-fourth of those cases is sudden death. more
