Exploratory research into the intersection of forced marriage, intimate partner violence, and sexual violence
from Office of Justice Programs
The study included in-depth interviews with people who knew of, experienced or were threatened with forced marriage, in-depth informational calls with stakeholders, and an online Google survey. Stakeholders relayed difficulty in identifying and providing support to victims of forced marriage, typically identifying forced marriage only after disclosures of abuse and/or depression. Future research should consider challenges in obtaining an adequate sample.
