Flex time: Schools break out of scheduling ruts to improve learning for students, teachers

There's no such thing as a typical day for Heather Kostelecky. On one day, the pre-calculus and Advanced Placement statistics teacher at Legacy High School in Bismarck, North Dakota, might have small breaks from teaching throughout the day. On another, she is with students all morning. And then some days, she spends time in the school's STEM "Saber Center," where students can find tutoring or time to complete homework.
