Primary care, ED docs discuss addiction Tx challenges
from MedPage Today
Trying to wean opioid-dependent patients off the drugs or get them into medication-assisted treatment presents a number of challenges for physicians in various settings, several speakers said at an event here sponsored by the Duke Margolis Center for Health Policy. "Primary care doctors are responsible for most chronic pain management, [and] that's how it should be in my opinion," Erin Krebs, MD, MPH, health services researcher at the Minneapolis Veterans Affairs (VA) Center for Chronic Disease Outcomes Research, said at the event on Thursday.
