NASA to offer two webinars on monitoring tropical storms for emergency preparedness

NASA’s Applied Remote Sensing Training (ARSET) program has scheduled two free webinars (each offered twice) on monitoring tropical storms for emergency preparedness, primarily intended for individuals and organizations engaged in emergency management. Register online for “Session One: An Overview of Tropical Storms and Their Impacts,” May 3, 2018, 6:00-8:00 p.m. EDT or May 10, 2018, 6:00-8:00 p.m. EDT, which will cover data needs for emergency preparedness; relevant remote sensing, modeling data, and tools; and monitoring pre-storm conditions. Register online for “Session Two: Monitoring Conditions During and After Tropical Storms,” May 3, 2018, 9:00-11:00 a.m. EDT or May 10, 2018, 9:00-11:00 a.m. EDT, which will cover monitoring winds, rain, flooding, storm surge, and affected areas and communities for emergency management operations. Session Two also will include an example of applications of remote sensing for tropical storm-related decision support. more
