RTOs Offer Perspectives on Carbon Pricing at EBA Energizer, June 5

What is the real price of carbon and how can it be priced directly into RTO/ISO wholesale energy markets to enhance state/national environmental policies? On Tuesday, June 5, 2018. Kate Konschnik, Director of Duke University's Policy and Energy Program will moderate a panel of representatives of Regional Transmission Organizations and others with federal energy market expertise who will discuss various factors priced into energy markets, including existing state initiatives such as RGGI as well as share ideas on the legal and practical questions raised by including carbon directly in wholesale energy market pricing. Key issues of discussion include statutory interpretations, RTO/ISO regional differences, leakage mechanisms (i.e., accounting for seams issues), interaction with other state and regional policies, pricing effects and how to measure consumer impact.
