Why are Seminary Students Abandoning the Master of Divinity?
Increasingly, seminary students opt to leave the Master of Divinity behind. Traditionally, after seminary students complete a three-year course of study, they also receive their Master's of Divinity. Now many seminary students opt for a different degree — a Master's in Ministry and Leadership.
According to an article in Religion News, Sean Robinson a May 2018 graduate of Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary said, "People are trying to get the training they need and get out. It all boils down to time and convenience and the culture and lifestyle we see today." Why the decline in the Master's of Divinity?
