New program teaches inmates job skills

from Kentucky New Era

A pilot program at the Hopkins County Jail, Kentucky is providing its first group of inmates with certifications in welding so that they can build positive futures upon their release. Kentucky INSINC, which stands for "Inmates Need Skills in New Careers," is a partnership between the jail and the Madisonville-Hopkins County Economic Development Corp.'s Kentucky Movers and Makers. The program allows incarcerated volunteers to become certified in basic welding through a 30-hour course of instruction. more
