A model to improve detection of nonaccidental pediatric burns
from AMA Journal of Ethics
In the pediatric population, it has been suggested that up to 20 percent of burns are nonaccidental. A variety of strategies have previously been described to identify instances of abuse or neglect that have already occurred in an effort to mitigate this problem. These include practitioner education and reliance on pattern recognition, protocols, algorithms, and assessment by a multidisciplinary team.
