House Appropriations Committee Approves The FY 2019 Labor, Health And Human Services, Education Funding Bill

from The U.S. House of Representatives Committee on Appropriations

The House Appropriations Committee approved the appropriation draft for fiscal year 2019 Labor, Health and Human Services, and Education (LHHS) funding bill on July 1, providing for additional funding to these departments. $177.1 billion in discretionary funding was approved (essentially the same as in FY 2018) focused on issues like education, medical research, public health, and job readiness.

According to Appropriations Chairman Rodney, "This bill includes investments in vital research to cure diseases such as cancer and Alzheimer's, job training, college preparation, and special education programs... and also continues funding for services to ensure that unaccompanied immigrant children have proper housing and care, and that eligible refugee families have the resources needed to settle in communities across the country and achieve self-sufficiency." more
