Texas business coalition could affect DACA lawsuit
from Palestine Herald-Press
A federal judge last week ordered revival of the controversial DACA program, but on Aug. 8, Texas headed to court, contesting the policy's constitutionality. The outcome of the Texas-led challenge by 10 states could affect not just the lives of those living here under DACA, but also the state's economic health. In a friend-of-the-court brief, the Texas Association of Business and its allies argue that if the young people, brought to the U.S. by parents who immigrated illegally, were no longer covered under the DACA policy, the nation would lose about $450 billion in gross domestic product over the next decade, with Texas absorbing $6 billion in lost annual GDP.
