TCT: Rotablator Bests Balloons For Heavily Calcified Lesion Prep
from MedPage Today
High-speed rotational atherectomy improved the success of stenting severely calcified coronary lesions compared with cutting or scoring balloons for preparing the vessel, a German trial found. Atherectomy achieved 98 percent successful stent delivery leaving less than 20 percent stenosis in the stent and achieving TIMI grade 3 flow, without crossover or stent failure, compared with 81 percent with the modified balloon strategy.
